Yonkers Fire Department 100th Anniversary Shirt Design

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

So, I’m currently between projects and have been filling time with some work for family, friends and the occasional Craigslist project. This one here is for the Yonkers 10 Engine Fire Department 100th Anniversary. I was given 4 images to reference and create vector versions of some of the parts. Found a good Taz® image, their mascot, and vectorized him. This is my first draft, I’m awaiting feedback from the client. What do you think?

Desktop Backgrounds – Random Old School Sports

Saturday, October 24th, 2009

I stumbled across these recently while collecting files for my new portfolio. I made all of these during my time at ESPN, usually per-request by a friendly co-worker. When I see them now, I realize they are awesome like sequined glove. I put these up not only to put my awesome (early) Photoshop skills on display, but because they are truly awesome!

Each one is 1280×1024, click on them to see an enlarged version.

October Sunrise NYC Skyline Photo & Desktop Bkgd

Gizmo woke me up this morning, so I went and took some pictures of the sunrise over Manhattan. I made them into a dual monitor desktop background for October. They have the calendar on them. Click on them to see a bigger version. Enjoy.

These here are sized for dual monitor backgrounds, just remember to set it to tile so it spills through both monitors. Each one is 2560t x 800w and has the October calendar on it.

Internet Explorer Glitch, new to me.

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

I learned about a new annoying issue when using tables and images in IE6 & IE7.

I was working on a email newsletter that is primarily images, except for a small box of body text. I viewed the page in IE7 & IE7 via IE Tester and I was getting a gap under each image that butted against the cell aka td. I tried playing with cellspacing, cellpadding, margin and padding for the cell, links and images. Nothing worked, still had the gap. I did a little research and found out why.

When I code tables and just in general, I like to put the closing tags on their own lines, makes it easier for me to read. Apparently IE6/7 will add a 1px gap after your image if you don’t close the cell/td on the same line as the image. Simple and annoying. Thanks again Microsoft and Internet Explorer.

I tested in these browsers because they are the closest to the good old email apps that treat code like it’s 1999. On a further not, here are some good anti-IE6 websites to check out.
