Nerd alert: Mike Tyson’s Punch Out Training all CSS & jQuery

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

Today I found a blog via a LinkedIn group that loves HTML5. Addy Osmani is the man, no questions asked. So I did a little tutorial off his site doing animation based on a jQuery plugin called Spritely.

The Mike Tyson's Punch Out training screen done with Spritely

The end result is the jogging screen from Mike Tyson’s Punch Out NES game. All HTML, CSS, jQuery & Spritely! I really couldn’t help myself!

How did I never hear about Spry?

If you are looking for a simple and fantastic sliding panel javascript library for web design work, I stumbled upon one that I learned to love because I had it working in 5 minutes.

It’s called SPRY, it’s made by Adobe. And I love it.
I used it working on thebookofbeerpong.com and it basically just shifts the divs for you so you can have any html you want in it. Because it shifts the divs, you can have any content you like it there, so it’s so much more than a gallery slider. But it is just as easy to implement.

Fantastic, I love it so far!
